June SNAP benefits see $135 boost. Do you qualify?
11,834 New Mexicans will receive an additional $135 in Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits. According to a press release from the New Mexico Human Services Department (HSD), their collaboration with the Aging and Long-Term Services Department (ALTSD) is facilitating the provision of supplementary food assistance to adults over the age of 60 and adults with disabilities who are enrolled in SNAP services during the month of June.
The eligible individuals who received the SNAP State Supplement in February of this year will receive the one-time benefit throughout June. The release indicates that the assistance is a component of an initiative to mitigate food insecurity in the state.
The state general fund provides the funds for the one-time benefit. The June benefit will be automatically applied to the EBT card of those who qualify, necessitating no action on their part. Questions regarding these supplementary SNAP benefits should be directed to the Human Services Department at 1-800-283-4465.
